After so much criticism over the past few months – Somizi Mhlongo – Motaung who is one of Mzansi’s most loved personalities continued to break boundaries as he celebrated the launch of his long-anticipated cookbook, Dinner at Somizi’s – I Am Not A Chef, in partnership with the Tastic. Somizi who has been showcasing his culinary skills on the socials for a number of years up till two months ago where he launched his hit cooking show ‘Dinner at Somizi’s’ on 1Magic has taken it a step further to come up with a cookbook filled his favourite meals. It comes as no surprise that Mzansi has already shown the book incredible love by nearly breaking the internet and knocking the pre sales orders out of the park. The 188-page cookbook is sold at CNA for R295.
With the theme for this vibrant culinary experience being ‘As colorful as your favorite dish’ Somizi pulled out all the stops for his guests. Serving a combination of showstopper garlic creamy clams that he once made for his good friend Moshe Ndiki, and quirky Angry rice amongst other eccentric dishes.
“When putting this cookbook together I really wanted to create something truly authentic and special for my fans. I wanted to show South Africans how easy it is to add “pizzazz” to every day meals” said Somizi.
“I cannot wait to see how people from different homes interpret the recipes I have shared in their own unique ways” he added.
Somizi’s “self-published” cookbook is a must have as it contains a number of dishes inspired by the nostalgic memories that have made him to be the flamboyant and successful entertainer that we all love.
“Somizi has outdone himself. This cookbook couldn’t have come at a better time, with the festive season just around the corner. His recipes showcase creative ways to make any meal time a special occasion for families and friends. They encourage people to come together and enjoy good food, which is the essence of what the Tastic brand stands for” Says Thembi Sehloho; Marketing Director of Pasta and Rice at Tiger Brands.
“In the cookbook fans and consumers can expect to find lots of creative and delicious dishes starring different variants of Tastic rice such as Rice burger bun which makes use of leftover rice” Continues Sehloho
