In a powerful collaboration that transcends borders and defies genre boundaries, celebrated Zimbabwean guitarist and vocalist Sylent Nqo teams up with fellow Zimbabwean wordsmith Suhn and South African hitmaker Mhaw Keys for a captivating new single titled Denga — a spiritual and genre-blending love anthem rooted in African tradition yet soaring with contemporary soul.
Titled after the Shona word for “heaven,” Denga delves into the deep emotional realms of love — the kind that uplifts, transforms, and heals the spirit. “This song came from a sacred place,” says Sylent Nqo. “It’s not just about romance. It’s about longing, faith, and the kind of love that reconnects us to something bigger than ourselves.”

Known affectionately as The Guitar Sangoma, Sylent Nqo leads the track with his signature melodic guitar work and emotionally rich vocals. He sets the tone for a track that is both intimate and ethereal. Enter Suhn — the Zimbabwean lyricist known for pushing sonic boundaries — who brings a heartfelt verse layered with vulnerability and introspection.
“This was unlike anything I’ve worked on before,” Suhn explains. “Sylent created a sound I’d never heard, and it pulled something different out of me. I had to dig deeper emotionally — it was a challenge, but one I welcomed. Denga pushed me to grow.”
Although Suhn didn’t produce the track, his lyrical presence stands tall — weaving poetic emotion with spiritual depth. “With love, anything is possible,” he adds. “Even touching the heavens.”

Behind the boards is Mhaw Keys, one of South Africa’s most respected producers, who infuses the production with a textured soundscape of lush synths and grounded percussion. His creative touch makes Denga feel otherworldly yet rooted in ancestral memory. “I wanted the sound to feel like a prayer,” Mhaw Keys shares. “Something that lives between memory and imagination — like a dream you don’t want to wake up from.”

Sung in a fluid mix of Shona, Ndebele, and English, Denga speaks to listeners across Zimbabwe, South Africa, and the wider African diaspora. It’s a declaration of love — not only for a partner but for African identity, language, and musical innovation.
“Music is one of the few things that can speak every language,” says Sylent. “And if we’re going to talk about heaven, let it sound like home.”
With Denga, Sylent Nqo, Suhn, and Mhaw Keys have created more than a song — they’ve crafted a transcendent, Pan-African love letter to culture, spirit, and the power of collaboration.
