OTW by Vans and FDMTL Unveil Artisanal Denim-Inspired Sneaker Collab

Estimated read time 1 min read

At the heart of the collaboration is Sashiko, a centuries-old Japanese hand-stitching method known for reinforcing and embellishing fabric. Merging tradition with innovation, OTW by Vans and FDMTL reimagine Sashiko through Vans’ Engineered Knit technology, delivering modern texture with a handcrafted soul.

The capsule features two standout silhouettes:

  • Old Skool 36 EK, outfitted in true white stitching, clean punched eyelets, a Citadel outsole, and Marshmallow foxing that subtly nods to FDMTL’s refined palette.
  • Half Cab 33 EK, which echoes these details and adds a signature FDMTL woven hang flag for an extra touch of bespoke flair.

Launching first on May 30 at select OTW by Vans stockists, the collection brings thoughtful design and cross-cultural creativity to the streets.

South African release alert:
The sneakers will hit Shelflife locations in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and online at shelflife.co.za, starting June 19.
