Johannesburg will have another big event scheduled for its music calendar with Constitution Hill being the venue. Mayonie Open Air will be held for the second time at the city on 29 November 2026, following the first time’s success.
The festival was founded by South African music superstar Zakes Bantwini, and already stands out from other festivals since it is not simply about music, but culture and community as well. In addition, African electronic music is put into focus of the festival.
If you missed the previous festival held in Durban recently, there is nothing to be sad about as Johannesburg is the next stop, and the festival has something to offer to music fans.
One of the highlights of the festival is the double performance of Da Capo and Enoo Napa. Since both artists are known for their unique styles of Afro-house music, their joint performance is sure to become one of the highlights of the festival.
In addition, Ciza, Oscar Mbo and Themba are set to contribute even more heft to an already packed lineup that’s been designed for the purpose of a day of moving, grooving and rocking.
As other artist names will be added to the roster, one can only imagine how much room there is left for more anticipation and excitement.
Apart from music, Constitution Hill offers its own unique charm. The iconic Johannesburg site is going to become a place where all lovers of music, culture and creativity gather.
To Bantwini, growing as a festival is all about uniting people.
“Mayonie is about bringing people together through music and creating a space where we can celebrate who we are, where we come from and where African music is going,” says Zakes Bantwini. “We were just in Durban, we’re excited about Johannesburg and give our audience an experience they won’t forget.”
With a strong line-up, an unmistakable Johannesburg backdrop and more announcements still to come, Mayonie Open Air is certainly making its case for a spot among the city’s major music experiences this year.
The Mayonie Open Air takes place on Sunday 29 November 2026 at Constitution Hill, Johannesburg.
Tickets are now available via Howler, starting from R250, with VIP tickets available for R850.
