South Africa’s hip-hop community is getting another chance to step up to the mic as the Red Bull 64 Bars Booth Tour returns for its third year, taking its celebration of raw lyricism to Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria from 22 August to 19 September 2026.
At the heart of this year’s national tour is Thaboow Thimmy, who will travel across all four cities, bringing his energy and personality to each stop as MCs enter the booth and put their lyrical skills to the test.
The concept remains deliberately stripped back. Artists get one beat, 64 bars and a moment to make their case. There are no hooks, no choruses and no pre-written verses — just the MC, the beat and the bars.
For its third edition, the Booth Tour continues to provide South African MCs with a platform to showcase their writing, delivery and stage presence under pressure, while taking the 64 Bars experience directly into different hip-hop communities around the country.
Four cities. One booth. 64 bars to make your case.
The 2026 Red Bull 64 Bars Booth Tour will make stops in four South African cities:
- Johannesburg: The Playground, Braamfontein — 22–23 August 2026, 09:00–17:00
- Cape Town: Y?GEN Apparel, Wynberg — 29–30 August 2026, 09:00–17:00
- Durban: Florida Road Basketball Courts — 12–13 September 2026
- Pretoria: 012 Central — 18–19 September 2026
Entry is free and open to anyone aged 18 and over. On-site registration will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and will remain subject to venue capacity.
Two producers. One sound.
Adding to the experience this year are producers Herc Cut The Lights and Shaney Jay, who will be responsible for shaping the sonic identity of the Booth Tour across all four cities.
But the music will continue beyond the physical booth.
Every verse recorded during the national tour will contribute to a 2026 Red Bull 64 Bars Booth Tour season EP, creating a lasting record of the MCs who stepped forward and put their lyricism on the line.
With the booth back on the road, MCs across the country have another opportunity to take the mic, trust their bars and show South Africa what they can do.
