Oskido’s Big Day Out Adds Durban Legends To Lineup

Estimated read time 5 min read

There are some sounds that do more than fill a dancefloor — they become part of a city’s identity.

That legacy is getting its moment at Oskido’s Big Day Out, with DJ Tira and DJ Sox, together known as Durban’s Finest, alongside DJ Cndo joining the festival’s 2026 lineup.

The third edition of the festival takes place on Saturday, 28 November 2026 at Huddle Park in Linksfield, Johannesburg, bringing together different generations of South African music lovers for a day built around the sounds that have shaped Mzansi’s musical landscape.

This year, however, Durban’s contribution is particularly prominent.

From the rise of Kwaito and the evolution of South Africa’s dance scene to the sounds dominating clubs and festivals today, Durban has played a major role in the country’s music story. Consequently, Big Day Out is using this year’s edition to celebrate some of the artists and sounds that helped establish that legacy.

The arrival of Durban’s Finest and DJ Cndo adds another layer to an already expansive two-stage experience, bringing together established names, influential DJs and artists from different eras.

And there is another reason this year’s festival carries extra significance.

Big Day Out will coincide with Oskido’s birthday, while also celebrating the veteran DJ and producer’s recent recognition with the Order of Ikhamanga, awarded by the Presidency for his contribution to South African music and culture.

Then, adding another major development to the festival, FNB has been announced as an official partner.

The partnership brings the financial services brand into an event centred on music, culture, lifestyle and shared experiences. FNB says its involvement reflects its wider support for arts and culture, while creating opportunities for customers to connect outside traditional banking spaces.

For Big Day Out, meanwhile, the partnership adds another established South African brand to a festival that continues to build its identity around music and cultural moments.

With Durban’s dance-music history taking centre stage, Oskido’s milestone year providing the backdrop and FNB joining the festival as an official partner, the 2026 edition is shaping up as more than just another date on the summer calendar.

It is a celebration of where South African dance music has been, the artists who helped move it forward and the audiences who continue to keep those sounds alive.

Oskido’s Big Day Out takes place on 28 November at Huddle Park, Linksfield.

“Music has a unique ability to bring people together and create lasting memories. Oskido’s Big Day Out celebrates artists whose influence and success have endured for decades, reflecting the importance of longevity, relevance and the lasting impact of strong foundations, values that closely align with FNB’s commitment to helping customers build and preserve their own legacies. These same principles underpin our approach at FNB, where we believe trusted advice and long-term partnerships play a critical role in helping customers achieve their financial goals. This partnership allows us to connect with South Africans through authentic, culturally relevant experiences while helping them get more out of life and create meaningful moments with the people who matter most,” said Philani Potwana, CEO of FNB Private Core Banking and Credit Card.

For Oskido, the partnership represents an exciting new chapter for a festival that continues to grow while remaining rooted in the music and culture that inspired it. “Big Day Out has always been about bringing people together through music,” says Oskido. “This year we are taking that experience even further. We have incredible artists from different eras, two stages and now a partnership with FNB that allows us to create even more opportunities for people to connect, celebrate and make memories together.”

With several heavy hitters already confirmed, Big Day Out 2026 is shaping up as a celebration of where South African music has been, where it is now and where it is going next.

And there is still more to come in the final phase of talent to be announced soon. So whether you are coming for the classics, the contemporary sounds, the energy of the dancefloor or simply to spend a day with friends and family, Oskido’s Big Day Out 2026 promises twice the music, twice the energy and a full day of unforgettable experiences.
