BIG DAY OUT 2025: A Vibrant Cultural Homecoming to Unite Generations

Estimated read time 2 min read

Building on the overwhelming success of last year’s sold-out extravaganza, award-winning South African DJ and music producer Oskido is bringing BIG DAY OUT back this November. But this year, it’s not just about the beats—it’s about community, legacy, and celebrating the cultural heartbeat of Johannesburg.

At its core, BIG DAY OUT 2025 promises to be a homecoming of sorts—a space where generations collide and connect over the timeless rhythms of kwaito and house, paired with the freshest new sounds emerging from the vibrant local music scene. From the soulful echoes of the past to the pulsing energy of the future, the festival will be a meeting point for heritage and innovation.

Set against the dynamic backdrop of Johannesburg, the festival will transform the city into a living canvas. Attendees can look forward to more than music; they’ll be immersed in a feast for the senses. With curated food zones that highlight the best of South African cuisine, interactive installations that bring creativity to life, and show-stopping performances by legendary icons alongside today’s rising stars, BIG DAY OUT 2025 will be a celebration of community pride and collective joy.

Following the 2024 edition’s huge response—where thousands relived the golden era of kwaito and house—Oskido is once again determined to deliver an experience that transcends the stage. It’s about honouring the past, igniting the present, and building a future where music, food, and culture weave together to tell a uniquely South African story.

The response to the first Big Day Out totally blew the team and I away,” said Oskido. “In 2025, we’re taking it to another level – more artists, more music and more ways to celebrate the diversity of the South Africans we are. This festival is for anyone who’s ever danced to a kwaito beat or lost themselves in a house groove. It’s our story, told through sound, taste and style. See you in November!”
