Smirnoff Ice Launches House Party Series in Bryanston

There is something about a house party that a big venue simply cannot replicate. It feels more personal, the music hits differently and, before you know it, nobody is really checking the time. Smirnoff Ice tapped into that feeling on Saturday night, launching its first house party experience in Bryanston, Johannesburg.

Kept under wraps until guests arrived, the secret location set the tone for an evening built around music, socialising and, of course, good energy. Local DJs took control of the decks, keeping the crowd moving as the night stretched on.

And then there was the drinks menu.

Smirnoff Ice’s RTD range was very much part of the experience, with guests enjoying the refreshing line-up throughout the evening. Rather than simply placing the products at the centre of attention, the brand folded them naturally into the social atmosphere it was creating.

More importantly, the Bryanston event signals a shift in how Smirnoff Ice is looking to engage its audience. Instead of relying solely on traditional brand activations, the house party series brings the brand into intimate spaces where music, friendships and culture already exist organically.

Speaking about the concept, Ifeoma Agu, Group Head of Culture, Influencers and Advocacy at Diageo South, West and Central Africa, said the series is designed around how people connect and celebrate today.

“The Smirnoff Ice House Party series is about creating experiences that feel authentic to the way people connect and celebrate today. We wanted to move beyond the expected and create spaces where music, people and culture come together naturally. The Bryanston experience was the first expression of that idea, and we’re excited to build on it with more moments that bring our consumers closer to the brand in fresh and unexpected ways,” said Agu.

So, Bryanston was only the beginning. With more house parties expected, Smirnoff Ice is taking the party to where the people are — and keeping the location a secret until the right moment.

Consumers can find Smirnoff Ice packs at retailers including Makro, Checkers Sixty60, Pick n Pay and Takealot, while updates on upcoming experiences are available via @SmirnoffSA.
