Ster-Kinekor Brings Big-Screen Magic This Holiday

Ster-Kinekor’s school holiday lineup features Toy Story 5, Minions & Monsters, Moana, Supergirl, family deals and exciting cinema experiences.

As schools close for the mid-year break, Ster-Kinekor is rolling out an exciting entertainment lineup designed to keep families entertained throughout the holidays.

From beloved animated characters and family adventures to blockbuster action films and special cinema experiences, Ster-Kinekor is positioning itself as the ultimate holiday destination for movie lovers of all ages.

Leading the holiday releases is Toy Story 5, arriving in IMAX® cinemas from 19 June. The latest chapter in the iconic franchise reunites Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the rest of the toy box gang as they face a new challenge when Bonnie becomes obsessed with a Lilypad tablet. South African audiences have an added reason to celebrate, with global music star Tyla lending her voice to a brand-new character, the Inflatable Flamingo.

The fun continues with Minions & Monsters, releasing on 26 June. The film follows the chaotic journey of the Minions as they conquer Hollywood, become movie stars, unleash monsters on the world and attempt to save the planet from the mayhem they created. To add to the excitement, Ster-Kinekor will host a nationwide Minions character roadshow at selected cinemas between 27 June and 19 July, giving young fans the opportunity to meet their favourite yellow troublemakers.

Families can also look forward to Moana (Live Action), arriving in cinemas from 10 July. The highly anticipated adaptation follows Moana as she journeys beyond the shores of Motunui alongside the demigod Maui in a quest to restore the wellbeing of her people.

For younger audiences, Ster-Kinekor’s specially designed Kids’ Cinemas offer an immersive movie-going experience complete with colourful seating, slides and ball pools. These cinemas are available at selected locations in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town.

Adding a touch of nostalgia, Ster-Kinekor’s popular Throwback Cinema promotion returns with classic family favourites at just R50 per ticket. Stuart Little returns to the big screen from 26 June, followed by the beloved musical Annie from 10 July.

Teen audiences are also catered for with the release of Supergirl on 25 June and Christopher Nolan’s epic historical adventure The Odyssey on 17 July. Both films have been specially filmed for IMAX®, promising a spectacular cinematic experience.
