The hospitality sector in Kampala has been given a huge boost after Marriott International announced the opening of two new properties in Uganda’s capital, which are also the first Marriott Hotels and Marriott Executive Apartments in Uganda.
Situated in Nsambya, the dual-branded property consists of Kampala Marriott Hotel and Marriott Executive Apartments Kampala, which serve both the business and leisure travellers, diplomats, MICE travellers, executives and families.
Located a few minutes away from Kampala’s city centre and about 40 kilometres away from Entebbe International Airport, the property serves as an ideal gateway for accessing diplomatic missions, headquarters of companies, government offices and tourist attractions such as Uganda Museum, Independence Monument and Kabaka’s Palace.

“As Uganda’s tourism and business sectors continue to grow, we are seeing more interest in hospitality products that meet various types of travellers’ needs,” said Johan Cronjé, Regional Vice President, Sub-Saharan Africa, Marriott International.
Consisting of 181 guestrooms and suites including the Presidential Suite, the hotel boasts workspaces, fast internet connection and locally inspired décor. Featuring two towers connected by a distinctive skybridge, Kampala Marriott Hotel affords scenic views of the famous seven hills of Kampala, as well as Lake Victoria from some of the rooms.

Kampala Marriott Hotel features the signature Greatroom of Marriott Hotels – an open space designed for working and socialising. Additionally, there is also an M Club lounge and a business centre.
With six restaurants and bars on the property, guests are able to enjoy The Woodshed Grill & Bar, Luna Cake Studio, Majlis Coffee Lounge, Kasana Deck, Iron Taps Sports Bar and Tatu Rooftop Bar. Besides, there is a chance to visit Saray Spa, steam and sauna facilities, a fitness centre and an outdoor heated swimming pool.
The hotel offers 1,293 square metres of meeting space in six venues. Kampala Grand Ballroom can host up to 1,000 people.
Extended-stay living

Marriott Executive Apartments Kampala consists of 96 fully-serviced apartments including studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom penthouse apartments, which are intended for use by executives, consultants, diplomatic missions, project teams and relocating families.
“We are very pleased to launch the product, which offers global hospitality standards combined with the local experience,” said Mustapha Fodil, General Manager.
This expansion will increase Marriott International’s portfolio in Uganda to seven properties in five different brands.
