The original bottle is perfectly distilled from the finest fermented molasses, Russian Bear Original is triple distilled, charcoal filtered and laboratory tested for zero impurities. We had a sit down with Bongi Matsolo (Brand Manager) for Russian Bear and this is what she had to say.
Vodka has always been a premium drink only afforded by a select few, how does Russia bear reach its target audience without compromising the brands integrity?
Every decision we make as Russian Bear is centered around the consumer and the economy of South Africa. Russian bear really speaks about lifestyle and we didn’t want to charge an arm and a leg for this premium drink. The Or’ginal bottle sells for R130 – even with the tickets for the concert we placed it as R275 where as most concet ticket range from R300+. We were really considering our consumers when made the decision as we want to be inclusive with our consumers.
How has your experience been as a brand working with Nasty C?
Working with Nasty was amazing and we couldn’t think of anyone better to collaborative with, his vision and our vision married so nicely and both our brands spoke the same kinds of values.

How did the choice of the international act come about?
Again we thought of our consumers and who they would like to see, of cos we had our own personal favourites but at the end of the day the decision had to be based on the fans. Gunna was perfect as he hasn’t performed in South Africa and we believe he will give the South African Audience an experience.
How successful was the campaign via the ussd campaign?
We were blown away by the amount of people we took part in the campaign and this one out of all the campaign we’ve had was the most successful. In a short space we had 40000 entries and id like to believe that right now it had quadrupled in numbers.
Tell us about the super fan experience?
With the super fan experience it was really about including all the fans in different provinces who cant really afford air tickets and accommodation, we wanted to make it accessible for them to stand a chance to come to the concert. For the super-fans we are going to pay for everything from picking them up at their houses to bringing them back home and everything in between, they will also have a meet and greet with Nasty
What can consumers expect from Russian Bear this festive season?
We don’t really make so much noise in the festive season as it is already noisy but we will continue with the BeUs campaign.

The original by far is the favourite amongst them all but with the flavours specifically it has to be the pineapple.
How can aspiring artists get involved?
We have the Next Level platform where we have a truck which goes around the country and from the songs which are recorded we put it out to consumers but it goes beyond that, an aspiring talent doesn’t just win a music video and it stays there hanging, some of the previous winners will be performing tomorrow at the event.
