Johannesburg 30 July 2021 – Recorded over the festive season, Dante Lway spent countless hours and sleepless nights putting pen to paper working on his highly anticipated EP titled MY CUP RUNNETH OVER. Having released two singles in preparation of his upcoming EP, Dante Lway real name “Lwazi Kim Makhanya” draw inspiration from his personal life.
“This EP is a celebration of how far I have come creatively and also fundamentally, the lessons learned , the things I observe happening around me , the people who helped me get here and also an affirmation of the fact that the journey is still long ahead of me . With the national lockdown and what is going on in South Africa really hit me hard and it was a challenge to put myself in a space where I’m not overthinking but instead letting the music take me to where it takes me creatively.”
“Being known as an MC can sometimes hinder rappers from exploring their musical side more and this was definitely a leap I had to take to ensure I continue to evolve instead of remaining in a box . I was uncertain at many points of the journey but I stayed true to the fact that comfort is an enemy of progress. If I stay in the box I’m comfortable in, how would I ever know what boxes I could explore and be successful? Some will say this is a shift from underground to commercial but I say it’s a shift from being comfortable to being uncomfortable and taking risks.”

Let’s take you on a journey of MY CUP RUNNETH OVER
Juice is a chilled banger , juice is a song that has a chorus aimed at being infectious and catchy while the verses are meant to be informative and relatable . The song is an observation of social norms in South Africa when it comes to male and female relations . This song is not meant to judge these actions but it is more of an acceptance and understanding of how things are . Juice is a hustlers anthem and a testimony on being ambitious and striving to be successful
Momma Told Me , is a song about self actualisation or like we like to say self cav , the song is about how mothers especially in single parent homes play both roles and raise us into strong men. It’s about understanding that everyone has potential to be great within them and that sometimes the people around you may not have your best interests at heart but they have their own motivations . The song is about knowing who you are and I am and understanding that my mom made me the man I am .
Not Really , is a very uptempo song with experimental production and genre fusing that is present throughout this whole ep (capsule) , this song displays my full personality in one song , it’s is fun and clever wordplay , the chorus speaks on the fact that making it to certain point of personal success people will believe ur more successful than you are so this chorus is celebrating that concept . I’m successful but not really thought ,I have things but not really though it’s about ambition and always striving for better because there is almost always better.
Let It Go, is a complete slow down from the unorthodox body of work that is the capsule MCRO. This song is simple and to the point as outros should be , this song brings everything back to earth that even though I got the juice , even though my mom raised me well and gave me great advice, even though I’m gaining momentum towards my goals the reality of it all is that it’s not all sunshine and roses , I’ve lost a lot of friends to get here , I’ve lost family members and even out my own health in danger just to get here , all these emotions are things I was keeping inside me but I learned that letting it go is the best way to heal , which is what the song is about .
