Sandton City has launched the next phase of its Words That Heal campaign in partnership with the Riky Rick Foundation, continuing its mission to promote emotional well-being during Mental Health Awareness Month. What started as a nationwide call to share words of encouragement has evolved into a heartfelt song and an interactive in-centre experience that celebrates creativity and healing. This song laced with the late Ricky Rick’s voice sets to spread a message of hope and resilience.

The Song That Speaks to Healing

Earlier this year, Sandton City invited shoppers to record voice notes of encouragement—messages of hope for those struggling with mental health. From hundreds of submissions, a selection of voices was blended into a moving original song titled Words That Heal, featuring the late Riky Rick.

The hip-hop track celebrates resilience and reminds listeners that they are never alone in their journey. It’s a touching tribute to the power of words and music in promoting healing. The song is available to stream on YouTube and SoundCloud.

A Call to Action

Every day, South Africa loses an estimated 23 people to suicide, with many more attempting to take their lives. Through this campaign, Sandton City hopes to spark hope, raise awareness, and encourage open conversations about mental health.

The Words That Heal WhatsApp line—063 980 5816—remains open for anyone wishing to share a message of support. Because sometimes, one kind message can truly help save a life.
