This February, National Geographic Wild (DStv 182, Starsat 221) shines a powerful spotlight on Africa’s most iconic predators with Big Cat Month, airing from 1–22 February 2026. Every Sunday evening at 6 PM and 8:30 PM (CAT), viewers are invited into the intense, beautiful and unforgiving world of lions, leopards and cheetahs as they battle survival in rapidly changing environments.
Renowned for their strength, precision and quiet grace, big cats now face mounting pressure from climate change, shrinking habitats and fierce competition. Through cinematic visuals and rare, intimate access, Big Cat Month captures their lives in moments of triumph, loss and relentless struggle across some of Africa’s most dramatic landscapes.
Premieres kick off with Big Cat Planet on 1 February, revealing how Africa’s top predators adapt their instincts, hunting strategies and territories when resources become scarce. On 8 February, Mashatu: Land of Leopards follows a mother leopard and her cubs over three years in Botswana’s Mashatu Game Reserve, documenting survival under extreme environmental stress using cutting-edge drone and low-light technology.
On 15 February, Killer Safari: Big Cat Battle Compilation delivers Africa’s most intense wildlife encounters, from ambushes to narrow escapes, showing how quickly dominance can shift in the wild. The month concludes on 22 February with Savage Kingdom: Clash of Clans Compilations, where rivalries in Northern Botswana erupt as big cats fight to defend territory, power and legacy.
Additional big cat-themed programming will air after every premiere, featuring standout titles such as Malika: The Lion Queen, Serengeti Speed Queen, Diary of a Teen Leopard and The World’s Most Famous Tiger. Big Cat Month airs exclusively on National Geographic Wild.
