BYD Builds Momentum with Upcoming ATTO 2 DM-i Launch
Fresh from the successful launch of the BYD ATTO 8, BYD Auto South Africa is preparing to reveal another exciting addition to its rapidly expanding vehicle portfolio. The automotive brand will officially introduce the all-new ATTO 2 DM-i to South African media and industry stakeholders during a special launch event taking place on 10 and 11 June 2026.
While full specifications remain under wraps, BYD has confirmed that the ATTO 2 DM-i will be powered by its advanced DM-i plug-in hybrid technology, combining the benefits of electric mobility with the flexibility and convenience required for longer journeys. The new model will also feature BYD’s award-winning Blade Battery technology, recognised globally for its exceptional safety, durability, innovation, and performance.
The introduction of the ATTO 2 DM-i underscores BYD’s commitment to delivering practical, future-focused mobility solutions tailored to the evolving needs of South African motorists. As consumer interest in new energy vehicles continues to grow, the latest addition aims to offer a compelling balance of efficiency, technology, and everyday usability.
“The South African market has responded incredibly positively to BYD’s growing vehicle portfolio, and we are excited to continue building on that momentum with the introduction of the ATTO 2 DM-i,” says Nomonde Kweyi, Marketing Director at BYD Auto South Africa.
“This is a vehicle designed for customers who want the benefits of electrified mobility without compromising on practicality, convenience, or everyday usability. We look forward to sharing the full story with South Africans very soon.”
For now, anticipation continues to build. Questions remain around the vehicle’s fuel efficiency, electric driving capabilities, positioning within the competitive SUV segment, and perhaps most importantly, its pricing.
Those answers will finally be revealed when BYD officially announces the ATTO 2 DM-i’s specifications and pricing on 11 June 2026. Until then, South African motorists and automotive enthusiasts will have to wait as the countdown begins.
