In celebration of Africa Day and the spirit of African unity, the Africa Choice Awards is set to make history with its first-ever South African edition — bringing together exceptional talent, creators, broadcasters, and innovators from across the continent under one roof. The 2026 edition introduces a bold Pan-African creative and broadcast movement designed to celebrate African excellence while strengthening collaboration within the continent’s rapidly growing creative industries. Positioned as one of Africa’s most influential entertainment and cultural platforms, the awards will spotlight achievements across television, radio, podcasting, music, film, fashion, beauty, photography, digital content creation, innovation, and emerging creative sectors.
Unlike traditional awards ceremonies, the Africa Choice Awards combines cultural recognition with strategic media and broadcast partnerships aimed at uniting Africa through storytelling, creativity, innovation, and influence. The initiative reflects the continent’s diversity while creating opportunities for African voices to connect on a global stage.

Nominees are selected through two rigorous processes. The first is a submission-based system where individuals and organisations submit nominations for consideration. These submissions are carefully reviewed by respected industry professionals from six African countries, who assess nominees based on impact, achievements, visibility, relevance, and overall body of work during the eligibility year.
The second process involves independent panel research conducted across participating African countries. Dedicated six-member panels identify creatives and industry leaders who have demonstrated exceptional influence, consistency, innovation, and contribution within their respective industries.
According to Puni Modiboa, Managing Director of Mmina Tshipi Integrated Marketing Communication, the Africa Choice Awards represents far more than an awards ceremony.
“Africa Choice Awards is a continental movement designed to celebrate Africa’s voices, creators, innovators, and cultural influence on a global scale. The South African edition will be delivered in collaboration with corporate partners, FMCG brands, broadcasters, and government stakeholders, creating an ecosystem that bridges creative production, media distribution, tourism, cultural diplomacy, and commercial brand integration.
The event is expected to attract creatives, broadcasters, investors, tourism authorities, media executives, government representatives, sponsors, and entertainment leaders from across Africa and beyond.
While the awards do not offer financial prizes, winners will receive prestigious trophies and certificates, while gaining valuable networking opportunities and continental recognition.
