South African fashion continues to create room for homegrown talent, and this time, Limpopo is making its presence felt through a partnership that brings together fashion, entertainment and provincial pride.

Media personality and fashion catalyst Romley Lishiba has officially joined HL Creations, the couture label established by Limpopo-born designer Harry Lekwane, who is now based in Pretoria. The announcement coincided with SA Fashion Week, where the two were joined by acclaimed actress Makoma “Komie” Mohale for a black-carpet appearance that placed Limpopo talent firmly in the spotlight.

Dressed in HL Creations, the trio brought together contemporary couture and a strong sense of identity. From the silhouettes to the intricate detailing, their looks reflected a shared appreciation for fashion that makes a statement while remaining connected to its roots.

For Romley, however, the partnership goes beyond wearing designer pieces. It represents an opportunity to contribute to the growth and visibility of a label whose story reflects his own connection to Limpopo.

“Joining HL Creations feels like coming home. Harry’s designs carry the soul of Limpopo with such elegance, and I’m here to amplify that story. Walking the black carpet with him and Makoma tonight was pure magic—Limpopo representing, loud and proud,” he said.

Meanwhile, Makoma, who hails from Mokopane, also celebrated the moment. Known for her roles in Scandal! and as the Rain Queen in Queen Modjadji, the actress highlighted the importance of creatives supporting one another and taking pride in their shared backgrounds.

“There’s nothing like standing with your people and showing the world what Limpopo can do. Romley and Harry made us look and feel powerful. This is what provincial pride looks like—talent, style and unity. I’m so proud to be part of this moment,” she said.

HL Creations has built its identity around couture that brings African sensibilities into contemporary fashion. Moreover, Lekwane’s journey from Limpopo to Pretoria reflects the experience of creatives who expand their reach while carrying their heritage into new spaces.

With Romley joining the label, the collaboration brings together design, media visibility and cultural influence. It also highlights the value of partnerships that give local talent opportunities to tell its story beyond its place of origin.

Ultimately, their appearance at SA Fashion Week offered more than a coordinated fashion moment. It showed what can happen when creatives from the same province share a platform, celebrate their roots and take their work to a wider audience.
