Personal style is more than what you wear. It reflects where you come from, what inspires you and how you choose to express yourself. Vans explores this idea through Your Style Your Story, a campaign bringing together four South African creatives who each approach fashion and individuality differently.

The campaign features creative director and stylist Bee Diamondhead, multidisciplinary artist Njabulo Hlope, fashion curator Pholani Mncube and musician K.Keed. Through their personal stories, the project celebrates the freedom to reinterpret classic styles and make them your own.
For Bee Diamondhead, whose work has helped shape South Africa’s fashion landscape for close to two decades, personal style means trusting her instincts rather than following trends. She gravitates towards locally made fashion, avoids fast fashion and favours classic pieces with distinctive silhouettes.
“I like what I like, and I don’t like being told what to do,” she says, describing an approach built around independence and staying true to herself.
Artist Njabulo Hlope, also known as Dirty Native Chief, draws inspiration from the visual culture of Soweto and the world around him. His creative practice spans illustration, murals and public installations, with curiosity continuing to shape how he sees himself and his surroundings.
“I learn a new lesson about life and my position in this world every day in every place,” he says.

Meanwhile, Pholani Mncube, founder of FabrikHunter, approaches style through vintage clothing, archival fashion and workwear. His appreciation for Vans lies in the simplicity of its designs and the freedom they give different communities to interpret them.
“The shoe remains consistent, but the people wearing it continuously give it new meaning,” he explains.

For K.Keed, creativity extends beyond music into fashion, new experiences and a commitment to remaining curious. The artist reflects on her roots in Gugulethu and the importance of keeping an open mind as she explores different sides of herself.
“I’m a big fan of self-actualisation, and this is the very same mentality I incorporate in the different sides of me,” she says.

Rooted in skate culture and embraced by generations of musicians, artists and designers, Vans has long been associated with creative self-expression. Through Your Style Your Story, the brand brings that spirit into focus, showing how four distinct perspectives can give familiar classics new meaning.
