Monkey Shoulder has partnered with internationally acclaimed South African DJ and producer Shimza as its official DJ Ambassador for Afro House and Afro Tech, bringing together music, culture and the whisky brand’s “Nothing Beats Now” philosophy.
The partnership will see Shimza feature across a series of Monkey Shoulder experiences in Johannesburg, Cape Town and KwaZulu-Natal, celebrating South African music and its growing influence on the global stage.

Known for taking Afro House and Afro Tech to audiences around the world, Shimza has built his career on pushing boundaries while remaining connected to the sounds and culture that shaped him. His approach aligns with Monkey Shoulder’s unconventional identity and its focus on people who choose their own path.
Made from three single malts, Monkey Shoulder has established a presence in music, street art and contemporary culture. The partnership brings together two names with international reach and a shared appreciation for creativity, individuality and doing things differently.
At the centre of the collaboration is the brand’s latest invitation to South Africans: Orange Hour.

Introducing Orange Hour
Moving beyond the familiar golden-hour ritual, Orange Hour encourages people to take 60 minutes for themselves as the sun begins to set. The experience invites music lovers to play Shimza’s Orange Hour playlist on Spotify, gather with their chosen company and enjoy the moment on their own terms.
The concept reflects Monkey Shoulder’s “Trust Your Taste” message, encouraging people to embrace their individual preferences rather than follow convention.
Through Shimza’s ambassadorship and the upcoming brand experiences, Monkey Shoulder aims to connect with South Africa’s music and lifestyle culture while celebrating the energy that continues to carry local sounds across borders.
With different beats but the same energy, the collaboration brings the brand and the DJ together around a shared message: Nothing Beats Now
