There is just something about discovering a destination through the growth that exists in that area, which Inverroche Distillery has turned into its entire visitor experience.
The distillery located in the coastal town of Stilbaai in South Africa has been voted the Africa’s Leading Distillery Tour 2026 in the World Travel Awards, winning the award for the third year in a row.
Situated on South Africa’s Garden Route, Inverroche lies within the Cape Floral Kingdom surrounded by the fynbos environment, which plays an important part in the story of the brand.
It all began back in 2011 when Inverroche was founded by its founder Lorna Scott who created a unique gin based on the indigenous botanicals found in the surroundings. The company became the first distillery using Cape fynbos as its botanical.
Nowadays, visitors are invited to experience that magic.
Instead of just observing the process of production, visitors can attend guided tours, discover the botanicals used to make Inverroche’s products, and most importantly create their very own bespoke gin, guided by the distilling experts.
This combination of nature, craft and activity is one of the core elements of Inverroche’s story.
Reflecting on the latest recognition, Scott says the third consecutive win is recognition for the team and what they have built in Stilbaai. She also describes the experience as an expression of African luxury rooted in its surroundings.
Meanwhile, the award arrives as Inverroche continues its African By Nature journey, highlighting the landscapes, people and botanicals that have shaped the brand.
For visitors, however, the appeal goes beyond the bottle.
It is about understanding where the ingredients come from, discovering the fynbos ecosystem and experiencing a different side of the Garden Route.

The distillery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 to 16:00, with advance bookings recommended.
