Johannesburg 1 July 2021 – Dannywired has just been been informed of the passing of Steve Kekana this morning. It is still unclear at this hour as to what the cause of death could be. He was born in 1958 in Zebediela Limpopo. He lost his sight at the age of five and attended a school for the blind in Pietersburg. In 1979 and 1980, Kekana won what was then known as the “SABC Black Music Award” for Best Male Vocalist.Kekana worked with the likes of PJ Powers, Nana Coyote and Joe Nina.Steve Kekana in 2020 was awarded an honorary doctorate in Philosophy by the University of South Africa.Singer songwriter Steve Kekana has been a special South African musician since the 80’s. One of Steves iconic single which saw him rise to be a legend today is Take Your Love Ft Nana Coyote.
