Nelson Mandela Square is turning up the festive elegance this December with a luxury experience designed to delight every sense. Introducing Celebrations on the Square — an exclusive seasonal showcase where guests are invited to sip, shop, and spoil themselves and their loved ones in a setting created for refined indulgence.

Running from 12 to 22 December, daily from 4pm to 9pm, this bespoke glass marquee offers a festive escape in the heart of Sandton. For an entry fee of R75, guests receive a glass of Laurent-Perrier champagne and a generous charcuterie board, setting the tone for an evening of leisure and luxury. With only 200 guests allowed per day, the experience promises intimacy, exclusivity, and endless Instagram-worthy moments.

A Seasonal Escape in the Heart of Sandton

Guests are welcomed through a grand archway framed by luxury lifestyle nutcrackers, leading into a beautifully styled space crowned with a striking ceiling installation and elegant festive décor. Soft Christmas accents, comfortable lounge areas, and cocktail tables create a relaxed flow — perfect for lingering with a drink, enjoying gourmet bites, or simply soaking up the magic beneath the Square’s signature sparkling lights. From 6pm to 8pm daily, a live violinist adds a romantic, melodic touch to the atmosphere.

Boutique Finds and Thoughtful Gifting

Inside the marquee, a curated collection of premium local vendors offers standout festive gifting and artisanal treats. Babylonstoren brings a taste of the Franschhoek Valley with farm produce, curated hampers, and lifestyle goods. Veldmeisie presents boutique floral arrangements and wreaths, while Oooh La La tempts with handcrafted confectionery. Guests can explore bespoke glass décor by Casa LV, imported Italian treasures from Le Perline, ceramics by Storm Ceramics, and hand-poured candles from Chapters Home Fragrance.

Food lovers are spoiled for choice with festive favourites from Lemoni Food Studio, a traditional Panettone merchant, and refreshing brews from Matcha Pod. A special activation by Gelato Mania delivers irresistible icy indulgence, while Kaldista Coffee Company ensures premium coffee flows throughout the evening.

A refined selection of local cookbooks from tastemakers such as Naqiyah Mayat and Angie Durrant makes gifting effortless for food enthusiasts. In the Laurent-Perrier champagne lounge, guests can enjoy tastings, purchase bottles, and receive personalised luggage tags with selected purchases — perfect keepsakes for the season. The Grandiflora Christmas Shop adds the final festive touch with exquisite décor and ornaments, while Wrap It elevates gifting with boutique packaging designed to impress.

According to Charis Claasen, Asset Manager of Nelson Mandela Square, “Celebrations on the Square has been crafted to feel intimate, polished and adorned with seasonal flair. We wanted to create a space that encourages guests to slow down, sip something special, and truly enjoy the beauty of the Square at this magical time of year.”

Adding to the destination’s vibrant appeal, both Gelato Mania and the Standard Bank Art Lab Gallery have recently opened at Nelson Mandela Square, further enhancing its year-round lifestyle offering.
