There are few better ways to greet warm days than with music, art, nature and a cold drink in hand. I saw Amarula bring all four together at Nirox Spring Jazz making its summer launch a joyful event of African creativity.
Set amid the scenery of Nirox Sculpture Park in the Cradle of Humankind the well known African cream liqueur brought its Soul Made. Served Chilled. idea to life inviting guests to taste Amarula over ice.

Importantly this event showed a change in how Amarula is treating the warm months.
Of making an event that fought against the surroundings Amarula embraced the setting. Guests moved from shows to open air spots and social moments with the chilled Amarula becoming part of the day’s rhythm.
The African story also went beyond what was in the glass.
Amarula brought African design into the event by working with makers such as Modern Gesture, Louise Décor and Design and Oneofeach. These collaborations were part of Amarula’s Craft Partners program showing creativity and the people who made the work.
Diana George of Lerato Designs the curator on Amarula Craft Partners said the collaborations give a newer look, at African craft and shine a light on the creative talent that shapes modern African design.
For Amarula that link is closely tied to its beginnings.
Made from fruit and tied to the communities that harvest it Amarula has long put African origin and skill at the heart of its story. At Nirox that story moved beyond the bottle into music, art, design and shared moments.
And as summer comes closer the message is plain: Amarula does not have to stay for traditional drinks.
Soul Made. Served Chilled. brings together the story of Amarula with the relaxed joy of drinking it over ice.
At Nirox the outcome was a spring gathering where African creativity, good company and a chilled Amarula found their rhythm.
