Forget sitting at home this school holiday — Gateway Theatre of Shopping is turning its cinema level into a little piece of Nakali.

From 21 September to 4 October 2026, families, friends and movie fans can step into the world of DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island through a free activation at the centre court, between Toy Kingdom and Nike.

The timing also leads into the film’s nationwide cinema release on 24 September, including at Nu Metro Gateway.

At the centre of Forgotten Island is the friendship between Jo and Raissa, two lifelong best friends whose final night together takes an unexpected turn when they discover a mysterious portal leading to the fantastical island of Nakali.

However, getting home comes with a major catch: their memories of each other are the price of escape.

Gateway is bringing that friendship theme into the real world with an experience designed around making and capturing memories with your own bestie.

Visitors can pose at a themed photo wall, leave their mark on a special memory wall and, notably, use the Sketchbot experience to have a photo with their best friend transformed in Forgotten Island style.

And because it is a school holiday activation, there is no admission fee.

Running daily from 11:00 to 18:00, the experience gives visitors another reason to make a day of their trip to Gateway — especially before or after catching the film.

The movie itself features an impressive voice cast, led by Grammy and Academy Award winner H.E.R. and Liza Soberano, alongside Dave Franco, Lea Salonga, Jenny Slate, Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy and Ronny Chieng.

Written and directed by Joel Crawford and Januel P. Mercado, Forgotten Island explores friendship, family stories, adventure and the memories that connect people.

So, whether you are bringing your childhood bestie, your school crew or the family, Gateway is giving visitors a chance to create a few memories of their own.

Forgotten Island opens in cinemas nationwide on 24 September 2026, while the Gateway activation runs until 4 Octo
