South African music continues to find exciting ways to bring different genres together, and this time, Nia Pearl and Goon Flavour are adding a romantic touch to the dance floor with their latest collaboration, Murhandziwa.
Released on Friday, 6 November 2026, the new single brings together soulful Amapiano and Lekompo, creating a sound that balances heartfelt vocals with the infectious energy of contemporary South African dance music. Moreover, its arrival ahead of the festive and wedding seasons makes it a fitting addition to playlists celebrating love, romance and togetherness.

For Nia Pearl, the collaboration presents another opportunity to showcase her versatility as a vocalist. Known for moving between Amapiano, Afro-soul, jazz and neo-soul, the singer has continued to establish an identity that places emotion and storytelling at the centre of her music.
Born Peleka Lwana in eMthatha, Eastern Cape, Nia Pearl’s musical journey has included collaborations with some of the country’s recognised producers, including Kabza De Small, DJ Maphorisa, Kelvin Momo, Sam Deep and Mas Musiq. However, it was her contribution to Shela, which has surpassed 30 million Spotify streams, that further strengthened her position within the Amapiano landscape.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the new release, Nia Pearl says she wanted to create something that people could connect with emotionally while still enjoying its energetic production. She also hopes the song will become part of wedding playlists, romantic dedications and family celebrations.
Meanwhile, Goon Flavour brings his creative approach to the collaboration, embracing the opportunity to explore the relationship between Lekompo and soulful Amapiano. Consequently, Murhandziwa becomes more than a conventional dance release, offering listeners a meeting point between two sounds that continue to shape South Africa’s evolving musical landscape.
The release also comes at an important moment in Nia Pearl’s career, as she prepares to unveil her highly anticipated debut album in January 2027. According to the singer, the project will offer a more personal introduction to her artistry, exploring different sounds, moods and experiences while reflecting her growth both musically and personally.
Having performed at platforms such as Standard Bank Joy of Jazz and built a growing presence within the Amapiano scene, Nia Pearl says she remains interested in exploring new musical directions, including international collaborations and more live musical experiences.
For now, however, Murhandziwa gives audiences another reason to celebrate the power of collaboration, particularly when different musical influences come together to tell a story.
