BISQUIT & DUBOUCHÉ SHARE A SIP WITH KWESTA AS HE GOES BEHIND THE MUSIC IN STORIES AT THE 17TH BAR

Johannesburg, South Africa – Bisquit & Dubouché in partnership with Kwesta celebrated heritage and legacy at the elevated experience, The 17th Bar.

As part of their partnership and through their shared values of going further, following your instinct, being bold as visionaries and pioneers;  Bisquit & Dubouché and Kwesta hosted guests for a unique opportunity that saw the musician narrate his musical journey that continues to see him succeed in the industry. Kwesta got intimate and personal with an immersive and stripped-down show – a performance in his career like no other, which brought the attending guests inside his music, the moments behind each song created and where he is headed next.

Referenced from 16 bars given on rap verses, the 16 years of music from Kwesta, and following the 16 Bars concert earlier this year – The 17th Bar saw entertainer Nomuzi “Moozlie” Mabena welcome guests which included rapper ROII; singer Thabsie, media personality Ms Cosmo, musican MÖRDA and more join Bisquit & Dubouché for ‘A Story to Sip’ with Kwesta as he detailed his journey down his music lane – showcasing hits and sharing the stories that made the music succeed for over a decade.

Just like the progressive spirit and the disruptive cognac pioneered by Alexandre Bisquit and Adrien Dubouché,  who went further to tell their own stories and leave behind their own legacies – Kwesta spoke on how he followed his instincts to success and shared his ‘story to sip’; while guests enjoyed signature Bisquit & Dubouché cocktails named after hit songs Ngud’, Ngiyaz’fela Ngawe and Spirit.

In a short quote at The 17Th Bar – Ryan George, Campari Group Marketing Manager South Africa said, had this to say, “Bisquit & Dubouché holds an over 200 year heritage and a proud story that carries a spirit of progression, innovation, and disruption – vital in crafting and distilling an unmistakable cognac. Much like Bisquit & Dubouché, Kwesta’s story also combines the same defining characteristics which form part of his legacy. We Share a Sip with Kwesta as we celebrate 16 years of his music tonight at The17th Bar. We’re proud to have Kwesta as our global ambassador and to feature him in the international A Story To Sip TV Commercial, which is now live.”

Recalling life changing memories, Kwesta shared how he got to 16years in the game -“The story of how I got here? I needed to write a 16, but the problem was I didn’t know what a 16 was and ended up doing 34 bars. A few days later, Slikour called he said, ‘I think you should come back, we want to chat to you.’ In that moment, my life changed.”  Proudly sharing in excitement, Kwesta continues to celebrate his partnership with Bisquit & Dubouché as the global ambassador and his feature in the Story To Sip international TV commercial. “Stories are made to be shared and my story is 16 years old, and counting. Thank you to everyone who joined us tonight as I shared my story to sip with you all over the unmistakable – Bisquit & Dubouché,” exclaimed Kwesta at The 17th Bar. He went on to say, “I’m thrilled to partner with Bisquit & Dubouché as their global ambassador and can’t wait to inspire more Stories to Sip together with upcoming pioneers and visionaries.”

Ensuring more stories to sip are shared, Bisquit & Dubouché will take over KONKA in Soweto for an unforgettable night headlined by A Story to Sip moment, and with international icons Black Coffee and Kabza De Small on Sunday, 26 November 2023. Be sure to join them to share #AStoryToSip.

One of the local foodie “stars” taking centre stage will be The Gourmet Shrine, the winner of the 2022 Soweto Kota Festival, with self-taught cook Vusi Mkhabela serving up mouthwatering gourmet kotas packed with fresh, wholesome ingredients fit for a king or queen.     For a lip-smacking alternative, Sumting Fresh will once again be serving up its legendary fried chicken – and, for a spicier alternative, Joburg’s iconic Poppy’s peri-peri chicken is another “hot” highlight not to be missed!     “We have a cosmopolitan feast of flavours lined up, but since it’s the Heritage Day weekend we are keeping the essence of our food offering quintessentially and deliciously South African,” says Funeka Pepetta, Media Director of the DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival.    Yearning for something hot and spicy? Take a taste journey to South America with chimichanga, assado and chimichurri sauce – your tastebuds will thank you!     Over and above the Korean, Japanese, Asian and Argentinian cuisine on offer, foodies can expect a parade of their favourites from previous festivals – from Wing Republic and Kota King to Dunky Donuts and Mexican street-food tacos from Mocharitos.     They join a vast array of food trucks (such as the LuviesFood truck with its Asian-inspired dishes such as bao buns) and vendors serving up freshly made pizzas, biltong and even dombolo (dumpling) burgers, courtesy of Why Cook.    And of course, any Heritage Weekend festival isn’t the same without the distinctive aromas and flavours that remind us just what makes South Africa so lekker – shisanyama and braaivleis! Come and enjoy the springtime weather and tuck into a juicy sosatie or a sizzling steak and get into the long-weekend vibe.    If meat is not for you, sample some vegan and pescetarian specialties, courtesy of Exotically Divine (for incredible fusion vegan African cuisine), The Prawnery and The Trout Palace. This expanded seafood offering is a new addition to the festival and is set to become a firm fishy favourite among visitors!     Wash it all down with a beverage of your choice, including the divine Yamama Gemmer home-made non-alcoholic ginger beer and the latest dreamy summertime favourite – bubble tea (or boba), the trend that’s on everyone’s lips. You’ll find this and more at the Proudly South African Village, where our very own #BuyLocal advocacy organisation will be hosting traders selling their irresistible homegrown, homemade delicacies.      Furthermore, for 50 young informal traders this will be their first hands-on experience of a large food festival – they are this year’s intake of the newly launched Delicious Festival Trader Academy powered by FoodBev Seta. The traders are at the start of their 5-month programme upskilling them with the necessary knowledge to successfully operate their own businesses in more formal and competitive environments.    Allow your senses to take flight and soar this Heritage Day weekend with a fusion of local flavours and global cuisine, perfectly complemented by a top-flight music line-up. Come and take a bite out of summer and revel in the things that make us proudly and joyfully South African this Heritage Day weekend – our awesome food, music, fashion and people!    Main stage talent on the bill includes Maxwell, Tems, Robert Glasper, Joyous Celebration, Arrested Development, Zakes Bantwini, Shalamar, Incognito, Oskido, Ringo Madlingozi, Oscar Mbo, Mörda, Karyendasoul, DJ Kent, Christos and Lamiez Holworthy.     The 10th annual DStv Delicious Festival is brought to you by DStv in association with LottoStar as well as Mercedes-Benz, Sasol, Drip, Windhoek Beer, Flight Centre, Proudly South African, Coca-Cola, Gauteng Tourism Authority, FoodBev SETA, CATHSSETA and Gauteng Enterprise Propeller, in proud association with Primedia Broadcasting radio stations 947 and 702.
