Ever so now and then a star is born and coming out of the dusty streets of Luka – born Thebe Jairus Solomon Lekhonkhobe better known as Lection proved to the world that he too is force ready to take over the game. Lection who recently joined a commercial radio station formally branded as North West FM now renamed to YOU FM couldn’t hold himself back to share these exciting news ” I’ve always wanted to be on radio just couldn’t figure out how or doing what, for the past 10 years what I did as a hobby was jingles and ads till an old friend of mine Towdeemac from Morafe gave me a ring and told me about this amazing opportunity because he knew it’s something I’ve always done in my spare time, it’s then he said ‘hey, why not get paid while having fun”. That’s what gave birth to this great opportunity. “
From radio back to the music, Lection recently dropped his full body of work titled Luka. We wanted to dive deeper and find out more about his album. “It was nothing short of amazing, I mean the late great HHP was very instrumental in choosing which songs to put on it and content generally. So the release was bittersweet as he wasn’t here to witness the excitement and mostly to be happy with and for me. Every single artist who’s on the album brought their A-game and that showed me just how much respect the project commanded.”
What were the challenges of putting together a full body of work? Time, time ,time…I couldn’t have most of the artists I initially wanted due to time but nontheless it worked out great in the end.
What is your connection to Luka? Luka is a village in Rustenburg that I was born at, it’s my beginning, my home and my identity.
Which slot are you on? I don’t have a show I’m the voice of the station.
What was pushed you to leave joburg? Greener pastures, more opportunities in my hometown and the province of North West as a whole. And also,most importantly I wanna start an industry this side. The potential here is immense.
